Summary

Arto is an accomplished expert in the field of physical activity and wellbeing, currently serving as the Director of the Active Life Lab at Xamk – South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences since February 2021. He previously held the role of Research Manager at the same institution from March 2017 to February 2021. Additionally, Arto is a founding member at Fibion Inc., where he has been involved since March 2014, focusing on developing tools for assessing physical inactivity and activity. With a PhD from the University of Jyväskylä, his research emphasizes the health risks associated with sedentary behavior and the development of interventions to mitigate these risks. Arto has contributed to the academic community with over 90 scientific publications and has served as a visiting researcher at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute in Melbourne.
